The City of Agoura Hills is in the process of designing pedestrian improvements at the intersections of Reyes Adobe Road/Rainbow Crest Drive and Reyes Adobe Road/Stonecrest Drive. The improvements include the installation of an overhead pedestrian signal at each intersection. The signal is known as a high intensity activated crosswalk (HAWK) beacon. The HAWK signal will allow pedestrians to cross Reyes Adobe Road safely. The signal remains dark until a pedestrian actuates the signal to flash a series of yellow lights and then red lights to stop traffic on Reyes Adobe Road.

At Rainbow Crest Drive, a marked crosswalk is proposed on the south leg of the intersection across Reyes Adobe Road. At Stonecrest Drive, the existing marked crosswalk will remain, and new curb ramps will be installed in the northwest and northeast corners of the intersection. Conceptual designs of the intersection are included in this letter.

During construction, impacts would include temporary closures of the sidewalk, bicycle lanes, and vehicle lanes. All construction activities will take place on a weekday during normal business hours.

The City’s Public Works Department is hosting a focus group with homeowners adjacent to the intersections, and other residents who have expressed interest, to receive feedback on the preliminary design and answer any questions. The Public Works Department will host a community meeting that is open to everyone after the focus group.
