The City has been actively searching out an implementing programs to underground electrical lines where possible. Prior to 2022 the City was allocated $40,000 per year by SCE as a requirement of the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) Rule 20A. The CPUC amended their guidelines in June 2021 creating a deadline for new project initiated by Cities to be submitted no later than December 2022. The City’s Rule 20a funds accumulated to an amount of approximately $1.3 Million Dollars by April 2022, AND ON April 27, 2022 the City Council adopted Resolution 22-2003 Establishing Underground Utility District Number 2.
This district is located along Cornell Road between Agoura Road and Cornell Way, and the accumulated funding will be used to underground 2,060 linear feet of distribution lines and remove the existing electrical poles.
