Water released from Oroville Dam travels down the Feather River before joining with the Sacramento River, eventually reaching the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, where the State Water Project's (SWP) California Aqueduct diverts the fresh water for transport to the arid San Joaquin Valley and Southern California. The SWP dependent areas include LVMWD.
Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) Water Restrictions
LVMWD adopted the Emergency Water Conservation Program prompting LVWMD customers to reduce their water to one day per week beginning Jun.1 to meet stringent conservation targets.
The current water supply challenges and limitations of Municipal Water District (MWD) infrastructure faces is delivering water supplies from Diamond Valley Lake and the Colorado River Aqueduct. Most Southern Californians receive their water from a variety of sources, including the State Water Project (SWP), Colorado River Aqueduct, Los Angeles Aqueduct, groundwater, or through water recycling.
The City of Agoura Hills issued a statement in conjunction with LVMWD stating we have reduced our reclaimed water use by 25%, as required by these emergency drought regulations since May 1. Citywide drought tolerant landscaping and parks will be watered once per month.
