Organics Recycling | SB 1383
Starting January 1st, 2022, the new state law, SB 1383, goes into effect. It requires all commercial businesses and residential and multi-family properties throughout California to recycle organics: food waste, green waste and landscaping waste. Recycling organic waste keeps billions of dollars in uneaten food annually out of landfills and reduces greenhouse gas emissions that lead to climate change.
The City of Agoura Hills is working with Waste Management in the residential sector, and with Universal Waste Systems and Waste Management in the commercial/business sector to comply with state law through a new organics recycling collection program for residents and businesses.
